However, homosexuality remains punishable by death penalty. Very effeminate and attracted by their conspecifics of the same sex but forced to live in secret their desire for fear of reprisals, a whole generation of young Iranian men choose the only identity that has legally recognized them, that of transsexual. The director has accompanied many of these young men as they consider and prepare this transformation to follow them to the surgical act.
